The quote above is kind of humorous in a way, Abraham Lincoln - historical American figure who died in 1865 - talking about the internet, which was not made popular until the late 1990's. But when you really think about it "he" has a point, how can you truly know if a quote (or even an article) you find on the internet is valid? There is so much information available on the internet: to find out how to judge the accuracy of a website stop by the library for tips on evaluating websites and check out the Research Tools available on this website. A good place to start just might be to verify the author and the time-period in which they were speaking.

Did you know that 12 Years a Slave and 4 of the other films nominated for Best Picture were based on books? 12 Year's a SlavePerhaps the best written of all the slave narratives, Twelve Years a Slave is a harrowing memoir about one of the darkest periods in American history. It recounts how Solomon Northup, born a free man in New York, was lured to Washington, D.C., in 1841 with the promise of fast money, then drugged and beaten and sold into slavery.
